With new album ‘The Severance’ turning a lot of heads all round Europa, Salford maker shaker, ex Fall guitarist and superb songwriter Ed Blaney and his excellent band return to the Dublin to demonstrate the new wave in spiritually inclined pop eyed rocknroll with grey matter attached. Ed is dedicating this show to his friend Mark E Smith. You can hear one of their wonderful collaborations in the latest Bugbear Soho Radio show positioned uppy there behind the wonderful image of Ed and M.E.S having a beer last year. It’s the simple things innit. Hear Bugbear in conversation with Simon Wolstencroft, long time Fall drummer and top bloke, as we pick through some filmic Fall favourites on our monthly exploration of synchronizations, cues and OSTs. The Sunday Sync.

Also appearing this gig…. Dr Rob & the Radi8ors and their hypnotic psych played in a post punk manner and featuring a pretty unique female vocal. Think Deaf School via The Velvets. And talking of great female vocalists, Lover will likewise be present and correct at this show you lucky bleeders, showcasing their big and bold soul inflected pop rock, starring a great gutsy vocal from Sarah Bradbury. A techy ’80s crossover sound with big guitars, dance/hiphop textures and intense commerciality. As they say ‘A cross between the song you can’t get out of your head, and something you’ve never heard before but are desperate to hear again, Lover will stimulate your aural senses with music from the depths of dark and twisted cognition’. Sarah Bradbury also contributes splendidly to the radio show embedded herein. Opening March 2nd The Reformers and their spritely twisty turny alterno guitar pop full of skanking punkinesss. In fact they’re a ska band (originals mind) but a very punky one- as if 1st album Clash were playing ska basically, neat. Enjoy this gig, dig into the site, peruse em all, come out and support live music we thank you.

Roddy Radiation of The Specials his back fronting his ska tinged rockabilly/punk/soul band.-The songwriting style is familiar to anyone who digs Concrete Jungle, Rat Race or Hey Little Rich Girl. Great stuff featuring ace guitars, pumping riddim, a bit of Clash like tood and rockabilly swing. With King Hammond’s St Pat’s Skank coming soon (see Dublin Castle Shows tab) click on Rod there and see him in action with The Rudeboy Mafia [more] live and direct from The Dublin Castle last year. Plus tonite The Collective AKA dealing out party time pleasures agogo. It’s a Punk/New Wave/Mod/2 Tone tribute jamboree, Specials, Jam, Madness, Clash, the lot. And they’ll be playing an extra long set so get your loafers resoled maybe, it’s gonna be Dance Crazetastic. Up first Steve Hooker and his super charged dirty Essex Delta rocknroll trio, who master reet good and grinding riffology and take it to the dancefloor with a sleazy Link Wray twang.
