Festive Super Saturday The Second...

David Bowie

A fond adieu to many of the greats who did the mortal coil shuffle and went brown of bread this jaundiced 2016 from Bugbear…Click on the Glorious Gouster The Sainted Ziggy Jones above to hear Ted Shiva and Tone Trash spin some tunes for your mourning glory, waving byebye tata to Bowie, Lemmy and all other supercool fellow travelers betwixt and between the mystical, mischievous planets of Rock and Roll, let’s keep their names alive in that fabulous firmament. And Grouty, definitely Grouty. Also don’t forget to keep Reel Rebels Radio alive…the superb community radio station coming outta Stoke Newington where this wibbly wobbly wireless programme originates…so do the decent thing, check out their fund raising appeal here and give, give, give whatever you can afford I thank you Right Here..

Anyway, never mind the stiffs, stay positive for 2017! It’s Festive Super Saturday The Second!…

The Vibrators+Steve Hooker Stripped Down Stompin Band+Monkish

From Pure Mania in 1977 onwards The Vibrators set out their stall as the accomplished but still utterly kick ass end of Romantic punk n roll, showing the upstarts how it’s done. Still the case…and former frontman Knox should be on hand tonight to hop up on stage and give us all goosebumps. Automatic Love for all, Happy Punkmas. With Steve Hooker Stripped Down Stompin Band and their super charged dirty Essex Delta rocknroll, this hot trio get a reet good and grinding riffology going and take it to the dancefloor with a sleazy Link Wray twang…damn good. And Monkish- agreeably rancid and ratty punk rock attack with some comely comedic touches. Check out the er ‘look’…It’s showbiz, it’s pure punk rock showbiz. Arrive early and make sure you’re on hand to enjoy the Monkish punkish thang.

Rude Mechanicals+Starsha Lee+The Bipolar Rollers

Artful jazzbo slinkiness and cabaret poetics with fabulous playing from all concerned and brilliantly off kilter but accessible vocalising from the remarkable front woman Miss Joe Roberts, the wonderful Rude Mechanicals. With elements from the likes of Rip Rig And Panic, Little Annie and Diamanda Gallas there’s loads here to enjoy. And isn’t that Jowe Head once of Swell Maps beneath that top hat plucking bubbling bass notes? [more]‘Rude Mechanicals are a Pan-dimensional Creature manifesting itself in your reality as an Absurd Rock/Jazz/Punk Band consisting of Miss Roberts and her symbiotic slaves.’ With Starsha Lee- the seering punk rock psych grunge happening helmed by guitarist Crispin (Daisy Chainsa, Queen Adrenea, Dogbones etc) where anything could happen …musicians fall to the floor, instruments implode, garments are shed by confrontational vocalist Sofia up front. The Stooges and The Pistols and Nirvana all reverberate here, but it’s a monster all it’s own. AND The Bipolar Rollers-Wonky but fantasticaly engaging indie with echoes of The Fall and Beefheart, but shot through with the sinister energy of Fat White Family.
