LISTINGS FOR THE CONSTITUTION
42 St. Pancras Way, NW1 0QT

Fri 1st June

Dave Kusworth and Darrel Bath- Yes Sir, the former Jacobite and gunslinging pard of the much missed Nikki Sudden is here tonight to realize a bit of sleaze griddled classic rock n roll English stylee, with his redoubtable accomplice Mr Bath…fans of The Faces, Johnny Thunders, Mott, Dylan and The Stones will be cock a hoop….as will fans of Dave Kusworth!

Honey Weasel- Honey Weasel are a breakbeat/electro two piece with a wayward eye on all things exotic, eccentric and excellent.

Charly Flynn- Talented chap is Charly…poetry, cut and paste experimental stuff and some rather beautiful acoustic songsmithery. Once played with Little Ans….

Daniel Rossall- Roy Harper could be a reference point …and whatcha know the great man Harper endorses Daniel Rossall too…

Richard Lewis- Richard is also a  poet. Here the Canterbury based artist indulges in  sad toned piano music augmnented with human beatbox and double bass … Has a big ,big emotive voice and also makes worthy use of a mandolin. It's very The National/Lambchop- extremely low slung and subdued , you’re never gonna confuse this music for the work of Bad Mannerses! Something of Randy Newman in here too…although his voice is strangely reminiscent of  Freddie Mercury .

Dr. Robert of London- Not to be confused with the former Blow Monkey..this is Velvets/Lou Reed/Spacemen 3 style narcotic punk sleazing, which makes a nice change for a solo bod and will perk up this here Debugged nite nicely.  Other 60s ref points are Donovan and Dylan, but also Richard Ashcroft…and a hint of Lennon and McCartney..decent lyrics that are unafraid of putting people right over their social ills…'Doing a line with Einstein/playing scalectrix with Jimi Hendrix!!' and other such hilarities are fetured in 'Everywhere but Nowhere’..check it out.

Fri 15th June

Dan Raza: - Gravel voiced troubadour coming in low on the ground with a feisty Americana based folk/pop.

Jake Doran: This is a solo artist with band… Picture Stephen Malkmus via Neil Young with heaps of Nick Drake and Lou Reed's style of songwriting… Can't go wrong! Quotes CAKE as one of his influences and I can definitely hear that…, "Blind Lesbian singer-songwriter" is full of witty comedy lyrics… He's got his more acoustic side too, when it's just him and his guitar, it's closer to Bowie than the above mentioned influences… a bit of Damien too…

Oliver kenneh- Consequential and considered folk picking guitar stuff…nice and mellow. Mr Kenneh has a sweet soft voice tripping over his fine six string work.  Does it with double bass and two percussionists too.

HoneyWeasal: London hiphop/electronica boffins who sample Cream's I Feel free then get rap samples over that, which really works. A genre fucking electronic live act. Two piece deck manipulation, they also remodel The Chemical Bros, Ali Farka Toure and all sorts of other mad bananas.

Sam Huxley: Placebo gone Brit pop is the vibe apparent… stripped down acoustic visions of darker, rocknroll rumblings, the boy Huxley does it damn well.

Ciara Haidar: Sort of post millenium cabaret jazz featuring this young lady who plays piano and crack pipes apparently. Backed with a guitarist and percussionist….a song like 'Shoreditch dandy' could be big in some circles these days what with Kate Nash, Jamie T or Mikka for that matter. Good playing and a nice playful voice which takes Cat Power as a point of departure then flirts with Lisa Minelli , Carol Bayer Sager and the like. I like this, it's refreshing. From London via Beirut.

Fri 29th June

Monkey, Don’t: weird synths and perky yet ploddy pop backdrops with awkward squad rhythms and arrangements…something of Zappa via English eccentric pop. Great keyboard sounds plus rootsy guitar recalling both Momus and Beck…and strangely catchy tunesmanship. It's mainly one bloke [Mark Robson] so good on ya , you simian refusal merchant you.

JoJo Watz: Nu jazz/acoustic pop is the legend….has done a TV commercial in Europe apparently.. Sade-tastic pop. Some  Carpenters-ish moments get us a bit gooey too.JoJo  studied music y'know…..

Maxwell’s Deamon: Old skool indie on their big group workouts , taking in elements of Supergrass  and Pulp and maybe The Wedding Present. Tonite we get the pared down, lofi approach…

Charly Flynn: solo artist with band … sounds like The Beatles acoustic or a more hippied out Damien Rice… I can also hear Rod Stewart…

J.Scott Project: folk tinged trio of some considerable might.
