Roddy Radiation From The Specials In The Dublin Castle, The Ancestral Seat Of Madness...

“>

Just there, behind the posterage… Listen to our latest Boogaloo Radio show for exciting insights on up and coming artists performing on Bugbear’s stage soon, plus part 2 of our David Thomas Pere Ubu interview and an illuminating chat with Record Collector Magazine’s Ian Shirley regarding his remarkable Ebony Steel Band ‘Pan Machine’ project. That’s the music of Kraftwerk played on the steel pans. Stunning stuff. Click and listen, tap and take it all in. There’s loads of diverse stuff to enjoy here. We do go back in time and reminisce on air about when Supergrass played an incredible Camden Crawl show in The Dublin…but then so many major talents have graced that Camden Town gem of a pub venue over the decades. For example…. Back in 1979 when Madness began their legendary Dublin Castle residency they masqueraded briefly as a jazz band… just in case Peggy and Alo didn’t fancy taking em on. Or was it a Country and Western combo?! Either way, they needn’t have worried. What with them, needless to say, being brilliant. And packing the pub to the rafters with thirsty, fun seeking, nutty revelers. And the rest, as they say, is history. Forty years on 99.9% of Dublin Castle punters are still salt of the earth, party hearty people. And ska, boss reggae and 2 tone flavours remain a major component of the Dublin Castle magic. Thus, tonight we give you former Specials guitar whizz Roddy Radiation and his superb band…Get your tickets now, or pay on the door…

The Specials may go on without that classic sweet Roddy lead guitar of yore, and without a fair few other elements too, but don’t worry about, no need to be wondering now, just enjoy the Skabilly Rebels. The yearning and zippy licks of Mr Rod’s playing ain’t bin dimmed none. Specials classics, excellent Roddy originals and other surprise gems make the cut and it’s a punky reggae rocknroll party to die for. Always a great night out in The Dublin, dancing shoes essential. Steve Hooker Stripped Down Stompin’ Band supports with super charged dirty Essex Delta rocknroll…
