nick lowee
From Kippington Lodge to Brinsley Shcwartz thru in-house production at Stiff Records (Elvis Costello, The Damned, Wreckless Eric) and beyond (Dr Feelgood, Graham Parker And The Rumour) thru the heady days of co-piloting Rockpile with Dave Edmunds, Nick Lowe has honed his incredible craft. Truly the craftiest of songcrafts that too! A master songwriter , an effortless spinner of on point rhyme and lyrical wit married up with the smartest of chords – Nick Lowe has written so many classic songs, you know them all from Cruel To Be Kind to What’s So Funny About Peace Love And Understanding and I Love The Sound Of Breaking Glass via the latterday English urban soul crooner material evinced in wonderfully evocative tunes like The Beast In Me and Homewrecker. Suffice to say Nick Lowe is a giant of British music. Always critically acclaimed, much covered, by greats too, from Costello to Cash to Curtis- Stigers that is….Much admired is the one they used to call Basher, and Bugbear are amongst those admirers. Click on Nick above to hear him with Bugbear on The Sunday Sync on Soho Radio to nice us up with his Screenage Kicks, his Cinematic Shakedowns, music off films and TV wot he luvs innit. Can’t wait to get him on in The Dublin Castle…..

INDEPENDENT VENUE WEEK SPECIAL In the week that Camden Town’s finest sons and rightful and benevolent Dublin Castle Ancestral Overlords yer actual Madness unveiled their historic plaque at the honest boozer and premier pub venue, we warmly welcome The Skatuessques- All female Ska/Rocksteady crew from Dublin, got a really nice lightness of touch, like a more erudite Bodysnatchers, do covers and origs all fabulously well. With Brunk- Taking the wind instruments to the skanking, punk rock party is the groovy game here. Guys and gals with the full gamut of brass section and woodwind wonders up their sleeves, some big, fat grin inducing musical nods and winks to be sure.
