Dublin Castle Sat 27th MayRoddy Radiation and the Skabilly Rebels + Steve Hooker Stripped Down Stompin Band+ The Remnants + The Gallerys + DJs We Got Killers

Roddy Radiation and the Skabilly Rebels- Specials’ guitarist, original member/pivotal songwriter (Concrete Jungle, Rat Race, Hey Little Rich Girl) has fronted his own punk and rockabilly informed outfits since the 2 Tone heyday, and with this particular troupe of Skabilly Rebels cooks up a wonderful stew of delicious bluebeat and rocknroll. Frenetic, fiery funtime, not to be Also, Steve Hooker Stripped Down Stompin Band- super charged dirty Essex Delta rocknroll trio, get a reet good and grinding riffology going and take it to the dancefloor with a sleazy Link Wray twang. The Remnants- expertly and fondly portrayed Beatles in Hamburg style beat music combo with gritty garage grind at their core but plenty of that moptop melody too. The Gallery’s-inspired by early Who, The Jam and The Las, these scally pop kings will get this fab night going with fire and fizz. DJs We Got Killers- No turkeys, only killer diller Saturday Night party tuneage of a lethal dance floor murderation kind til the wee wee hours.

Dublin Castle Sun 28th MayThe Flaming Stars + The Jolenes + Das Fenster & the Alibis

The Flaming Stars- Wonderful to have this pivotal London band back again for this Bank Holiday Happening, many marvelous Dublin Castle gigs back in the day, and hopefully plenty more to come. John Peel favourites, their slinky garage punk tweaked rocknroll romantique hits a beautiful sweet spot somewhere between The Seeds and perhaps a Joe Meek wrangled Gallon Drunk, with tunes to die for and tood aplenty via the beautifully trashy keys of frontman, bon viveur and wordsmith Max Decharne…still, the swish Dirk Bogarde of Ye Trashe…With The Jolenes- Ace all-girl bluegrass band. With harmonies & hairdos evoking a bygone era of vintage glamour and forbidden foundation garments, the Jolenes rustle up a down-home blend of spicy bluegrass and sweet old-time country, with a dash of red hot rockabilly. In their signature red frocks, the Jolenes gather round a single microphone in the traditional bluegrass style to deliver songs of love, hate, horses and muleskinners. Hair-raising fiddle, hard-driving banjo, foot-stomping rhythm section. Das Fenster & The Alibis- Inspired by 40’s Film Noir, The art & movies of the Weimar Republic, Gangsters, Voodoo, 50’s Strippers & Marlon Brando. Like a suited and booted Les Negresses Vertes gorn Delta voodoo rocknroll,  the perfect way to kick of this suavely slick Bank Holiday happening, hurrah.

And before you do all that click on the wonderful Richard Strange below, AKA Kid Strange from the recently reformed Doctors Of Madness, our guest on the other night’s Sunday Sync, Bugbear’s wireless happening on Soho Radio. Spizz Energi and Hugh Gulland from Vive Le rock magazine and Manchester’s Partisan also join the fun. Great music, great chat. Have a listen.
