A Free Pint And A Torrent Of Titters ...

Way back when in the dim and distant early 1990s when Jimmy Carr was a motorway bound locomotory urinary event, Al Quaida was the cafe proprietor in Eastenders and bands actually owned equipment that they brought to their gigs and made music on, some cove, probably not Joe Pasqualle, decided that comedy was the New Rock And Roll.

A neat little turn of phrase, especially chin strokingly appropriate now Rock And Roll is shaping up to be the New Marketing, but a soundbite with real teeth none the less. Some of those stand up guys really could show Keith Richard, Lemmy and Mark E Smith a thing or two about all night shenanigans with booze n pills n powders and what have you.

Strangely Buggerbear has never really ventured far down the comedy route, aside from the odd RocknRoll Cabaret turn..and we’re not referring to the Britney Spears looky likey recently spotted desperately causing offence on prime time ITV with a penchant for pishing behind the mixing desk..noooo…

What we are talking about is this coming Monday 23rd May in The Dublin Castle when Fosters and Sparkle Productions in conjunction with Bugbear present Fosters Funny Live, a night of top stand-up comedy featuring Carl Donnelly, Rob Heeney and Doc Brown.

If you are into yer standup you’ll know that’s a pretty stellar lineup, and the DC is definitely a great place to vibe on hearty chuckles, what with it actually being built on the ancient site of Michael Barrymore’s one and only funny ejaculation back in pre Roman Britain..

And you get a free pint Fosters lager or soft drink to similar value on entry too! Now that’s worth a round of applause.

A quick notification regarding The Sea’s much anticipated back to the DC show tonite Friday 20th May…yes, we are gutted to say it’s off due to James Sea having a very serious surfing accident. We wish him a very speedy recovery. But the show goes ahead with the ramalamtastic hardcore heaven that is Internal Skars boldly stepping into the headline position -and they very much do own equipment that they bring to their gigs and make music on so a big thanks to them for that!….and on at 8pm sharp the remarkable Reverend Snake Shine Oil co., whose blues wailin’ harmonica blasting tumbleweed blowin’ Beefheart thru Waits twisted blues Americana was a most mesmerising blast for the soul last nite in The Hope and Anchor.

Remember, NME has started its search for Britain’s Best Small Venue: Vote DC!!
